3 reasons to use direct mail marketing

In this crazy age of digital, don’t be tempted to write-off direct mail just yet. In some ways, technology has enhanced direct mail and let’s not forget that it’s a great way to encourage visitors to your website, entice people to make online purchases and/or get to know your prospects better by collecting their info (yes – including email addresses).

Why use direct mail marketing

1.  Cut through inbox clutter

We’re all suffering from inbox overload – business communication, personal stuff, updates, news and offers and whilst we might love all this contact with the outside world the fact of the matter is we don’t have the time or inclination to sort through all the emails. The bad news for email marketing is that your all important message may not even get clicked. But the good news is that studies show 77% of people still sort through physical mail so use direct mail marketing and you have a good chance of your promotional messages standing out from the crowd.

2.  Make a compelling sales pitch

If you want the chance to make a compelling sales pitch and connect with your audience on a more personal level – then direct mail might be just the thing. When someone clicks on their emails there are a flurry of new items in their inbox just waiting to be opened, not to mention all the other online notifications and social media temptations all competing for attention. Direct mail on the other hand, is all about talking directly to your prospects and if you succeed with just the right sales pitch you stand a good chance of grabbing your targets undivided attention.

3.  Dressed to impress

Let’s face it – a direct mail piece gives you the chance to make a much better impression than a bland email. Different shapes and sizes will always arouse curiosity as will a 3D mail piece.  Coloured envelopes and packaging are a nice touch and using a handwriting font for the address might be all you need to add that extra personal touch. Remember, with direct mail marketing there are all sorts of ways to create something special for your prospects that will connect with them on a deeper emotional level and give you a much higher response rate.

The more technology we have around us then the more issues of trust we have when it comes to everything we receive online. But get a good looking direct mail sales piece in the hands of your targets and you won’t have the same trust issues (a big plus in any relationship)!
